Rebuilt Polaroid SX70 Autofocus with New Mint Electronic Flash - Updated to use 600 Film Cartridges

Sorry, this item has sold.

A gift bundle for yourself or you photography family or friend.

Bundle includes a rebuilt Polaroid SX70 Sonar with new sea blue skins, a New in box Mint Electronic Flash with batteries and color filters, and a New Polaroid Originals Frog's Tongue installed. After the rebuild, the Polaroid camera was updated to shoot the faster 600 type film cartridges from Polaroid Originals.

The SX-70 Sonar offers a famous package of features:
- You see exactly what your taking a picture of, the view finder looks through the front photo lens
- The sonar auto focus (you can turn it off) will focus on items down to a foot out to infinity.
- The shutter auto adjusts from 1/175 second to 5 seconds
- Auto aperture adjusts from f8 to f22 (you can manually adjust too, which creates fun results with the 600 film)
- The glass lens is 116mm f8, 4 element

Why a SX70 Sonar with Electronic flash rather than a SLR680? The SLR680s are getting harder and harder to find without broken outer plastic - a part no longer being produced. This bundle also allows for the camera to be smaller to carry since the flash can be removed and only used when needed where the SLR680 always has the larger size due to the built in flash.

After rebuilding this Polaroid SX-70 Sonar, the camera has had it’s electronics updated all for the use of 600 Style instant film. Why would you want that update?

The SX-70 Sonar from Polaroid used the SX70 Style film, that is fine. But, the 600 film is much faster (and currently Polaroid Originals offers a lot of frame choices for the 600 line only). The desire to use 600 film is why most people move from a SX-70 to the SLR680. The update only impacts the use of the camera without a flash. Working best if well lit areas, a must for outdoor photography! When using a flash with this camera, the disposable flash bar is too bright for the 600 speed film so you should use a Mint Electronic Flash at 1/2 power.

A light pressure on the shutter button activates the Sonar Autofocus so you can see what will be in focus in your final print (great for depth photography).

The SX70 Sonar was originally released in 1978 ($250 in 1978 dollars = $990 in 2016 dollars). It is fun to finally be able to afford the camera that was out of the budget back in the late 70s.

I have scans of the original manuals available on my site: http://www.upcycledclassic.com/manuals/
This particular SX70 camera was created from a collaboration between me and Matt at 2nd Shot SX70.
